DAVID * ** *** Commentaires généraux *** ** * xxxxx://www.findagrave.com/memorial/118701979 Memorial ID 118701979 An early settler of Halifax, his given name was 'Jean-Christophe' which was Anglicized to 'John Christopher' in publications such as 'Builders of Nova Scotia,' 'A History of Nova Scotia,' and 'Nova Scotia Immigrants to 1867' where he appears in Volume 1. He also appears in 'Transcripts of Colonial Office Records: Nova Scotia--List of Emigrants entering Nova Scotia and Cape Breton, 1748-49' as a husbandman (farmer), arriving on April 5 with a wife and 3 children. This information is further confirmed by Terrence M. Punch's work, ''The Montbeliardais in Nova Scotia: A colonization by the foreign Protestants in the 18th century' which lists 1749 as arrival year for Jean-Christophe Laurilliard, his wife, Anne, and children George, Elisabeth and Jean-Henri (John Henry). Laurilliard was born in about 1708 and died in 1786 at Halifax. His date of death or burial is given as 16 August 1786.
