DAVID * ** *** Commentaires généraux *** ** * Document1 Jean Baptiste Beugnot son of Francois Beugnot and Collette Perrigot came to the United States with family in 1843 at the age of ten. They first lived in Stark County Ohio before moving to Jefferson Township in Allen County Indiana in 1848. Jean B. moved to New Haven at the age of 19 to learn the cooper's trade working with John Begue his brother-in-law. During this time he also helped grade the roadbed for the Wabash Railroad. He and his brothers Antoine and Auguste formed a partnership with Begue and Bernard and Herman Schnelkerto operate several cooperage and stave making factories in New Haven and Fort Wayne. November 10 1856 he married Pelagie Girardot daughter of Joseph Girardot and Reine Victoire Jacoutot. Mr. Beugnot was active in community affairs serving on the New Haven town board for three years and as town treasurer for two years. They had no children.
