At the age of 15 she emigrated to the United States, sailing with her father and mother on the ship St. Nicholas from Le Havre, France to New York City, New York. Etienne Coulardot (aka Stephen) was also onboard the ship St. Nicolas with Clémence Virginia Lomont, his girlfriend or more likely fiance as there were no other Coulardot family members listed on the ships manifest. Stephen and Virginia as they were commonly known in the United States were married about nine months later after the family had settled in Jefferson Township, Fort Wayne, Allen County IN. Clémence married Etienne Coulardot (aka Stephen) on January 20, 1851 in Jefferson Township, Fort Wayne, Allen County IN. Etienne was born in 1820 in France. They had nine children, four boys and five girls, Clarissa, Hypolite, Joseph, Francis, Amelia, Mary, Narcia, Henrietta and Juliette. Stephen and Virginia Lomont Coulardot lived on a farm near Howe and Sampson Roads in Indiana. They later moved about 1/2 mile west of the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church. Etienne died on April 2, 1878 in Allen County IN and is buried in St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery, Besancon, Jefferson Twp., Allen Co., IN. Virginia died on June 7, 1894 in Allen County IN and is buried in St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery, Besancon IN. Clémence Virginia Lomont est née le 14 Septembre 1835 à Branne, Dept Doubs, France.
