DUPORT G. DAVID A. GUILLAUME * ** *** Commentaires généraux *** ** * Document1 - Edward Romond who for more than forty years was employed as foreman at the plant of M. D. Valentine & Bros. Co. and who worked for ten years intermittently for the previous to being appointed foreman died after a long illness on Wednesday morning at the home of his son Joseph Romond in Amboy avenue. - Mr. Romond was born in France on October 26 1860. He began working for the Valentine concern about fifty years ago and his industry and loyalty was recognized ten years later in June 1890 when he was promoted to the position of foreman. He came to be regarded as a trusted employee of the firm. - Mr. Romond was an expert on clay and his services were valuable to the firm. He took a keen interest in his work and kept abreast of new discoveries and methods in the industry. - Arrangements are being made for the funeral services which will be held tomorrow at 9:30 A. M. from the late home thence to St. James Roman Catholic Church where a solemn high mass of requiem will be offered for the repose of the soul at 10 o'clock. - Mr. Romond came to America when he was a boy of seven years. He has resided in Woodbridge about sixty-two years. He married Miss Margaret Neary a Woodbridge girl when he was a young man. Mrs. Romond died several years ago. Until last Saturday he made his home with his daughter Mrs. John Rupp in Perth Amboy. He died at the home of his son Joseph 259 Amboy avenue Woodbridge. - He is survived by five sons Joseph of Woodbridge James of Jersey City Edward of Brooklyn Jules of Perth Amboy and Patrolman William Romond of Port Reading and a daughter Mrs. John Rupp of Perth Amboy.
