X St Vincents Chr. Rec. roll #8

Honorine Lomont (aka Norrine, Dorrine, Noreen, Honorena) was born October 19, 1840 in Branne, Dept Doubs, France. At the age of 9 she emigrated to the United States, sailing with her father and mother on the ship St. Nicholas from Le Havre, France to New York City, New York. She married Augustus C. Lallow (aka August) on May 10, 1857 in Fort Wayne, Allen County IN, recorded in Latin by a French Priest at Saint Vincent Roman Catholic Church. Augustus was born in 1828 in France or onboard a ship in the Atlantic Ocean on the voyage to the United States. They had seven children, three boys and four girls, Eugenia, Alice, Lewis, Mary, Charles, Jane and Eugene. Augustus died in 1900 and is buried in St. Vincent Catholic Church Cemetery, Washington Twp, Fort Wayne IN. Honorine died of senility on December 29, 1932 in Fort Wayne, Allen County IN and is buried in St. Vincent Catholic Church Cemetery, Washington Twp, Fort Wayne IN

Honorine was a resident of Allen County since she was 11 years old. Honorena died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mary Mitchell of 702 Edgewater Avenue, Fort Wayne. She resided at 1238 Barthold Street, Fort Wayne IN. She lived in Eel River Township for many years. At the time of her death she was a member of The Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Her marriage was recorded in Latin by a French Priest at Saint Vincent Roman Catholic Church & Cemetery where she, August and their son Eugene E. are buried. It is located at Auburn and Wallen Road, Ft. Wayne. It is an early French settler burial ground. Her obituary lists burial at Academie Cemetery. Obituary was found in Fort Wayne News Sentinel, December 29, 1932 page 13, col. 7. The Latin Names used to record her marriage were: Augustus Lalot and Honorata Lamont. Recorded in 'Indiana Genealogist Volume 6, Issue 1 March 1995 page 66 under heading St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church Washington Township, Allen County Parish Register, 1856-1861. Also see Census 1870 Jefferson Twp. p. 471a #114 line 11. In 1887 Fort Wayne City & Allen County Directory Heller's Corners P.O. She is listed in 1905 City & County Directory at 1238 Barthold. [1]

Augustus C. Lallow, born about 1828, (possibly France). Married Honorena LOMONT, May 10, 1857. Died 1900 in Allen Co., Indiana. Known as French settlers in Stark Co, before coming to Allen County, IN. No father or mother's name, it is thought Augustus had two sisters. One story tells of Augustus' parents dying on the ship coming to America, and he then takes the name of the people who raise him. We know the LOMONTS lived briefly in Stark Co., before coming to Indiana. Possible alternate spellings of name Lallow: LALLOT, SALLOT, LALLOZ and LAILLET. [2]

Author C. Banet listed: August Lallow 39 Farmer Atlantic Ocean in his book 'French Immigrants in Allen County IN 1850-1870. The listing on pg. 132 of this book is probably copied from Census: 1870 Jefferson Twp. p. 471a #114 line 11. Marriage data listed on Honorena's Note Page. He was buried at the old St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne, IN. In 1887 he is listed in Ft. Wayne City and Allen County Directory as a farmer of section 34, 39 acres valued at $575.
In 1894-95 part 2 the directory shows August H. f, 34, 39, $1,475 Eel River, Huntertown under the heading 'Heller's Corners'. In a 1905 Allen County directory which shows same data without Heller's Corners. (He died in 1900). This later directory was Fort Wayne Directory, R. L. Polk & Co's. page 126.
