DAVID , Martine COPELAND * ** *** Commentaires généraux *** ** * The Lomonts 1st settled in Starke Co., Ohio for a short time 1st listed in 1870 census Allen Co., Indiana Milan twp. pg 569b #154. xxxxx://fr.findagrave.com/memorial/29506504/virgil-p-lomont Virgil Peter Lomont (aka Peter, Pierre) was born on April 3, 1838 in Branne, Dept Doubs, Franche-Comté Region, France. At the age of 12 he emigrated to the United States, sailing with his father and mother on the ship St. Nicholas from Le Havre, France to New York City, New York. Virgil Peter married Emele Pettigney (aka Emily) on January 24, 1868 in Fort Wayne, Allen County IN. Emele was born on June 2, 1840 in France. They had two children, both girls, Louise and Laura. Virgil Peter was a carpenter. He was listed in the 1870 census in Milan Township Allen County IN. His father, Claudia Francis (Claude François) Lomont's, will dated March 13, 1877 listed the following legacy: son Virgil Peter 40 Acres. Same which I now farm in Jackson Twp. N.E. 1/4 of Sec. 30 Twp 30 N. Range 15E. Probated June 20, 1877. Emele died on April 12, 1872 in Allen County IN and is buried in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, New Haven IN. Emele's father was Peter Pettigney, name of her mother is unknown. Virgil Peter subsequently married Louise Frances Albrocksicht on June 10, 1873 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne IN. They had three children, three girls, Maria, Paulette and Rose. Louise was the daughter of Abraham and Margaret Keller Albrocksicht. Parents of Emele Pettigney were Peter Pettigney whose wife is not known. Parents of Louise Frances Albrocksicht were Abraham Albrocksicht and Margaret Keller.
